Humongous Entertainment Brings a New Perspective to Children's Entertainment
Putt-Putt(r)'s Newest Adventure Puts Kids in the Driver's Seat

Putt-Putt Enters the Race(tm), The fifth title in the award-winning
Putt-Putt(r) Series
Gets Ready to Race to Retail on January 1

SEATTLE Wash. - Jan. 5, 1998 - Racers...start your engines! The Indy 500 may still be a few months away, but Putt-Putt(r), the world's most lovable talking purple car, and his pal Pep(tm) are ready for a racing adventure of their own at the Cartown Speedway. Humongous Entertainment, award-winning creators of children's entertainment CD-ROMs and a wholly owned subsidiary of GT Interactive Software (NASDAQ: GITS), introduces a race like no one has ever seen! Putt-Putt Enters the Race(tm), available at retail outlets nationwide on January 1, is sure to be a speedy success with kids ages 3 to 8.
Putt-Putt Enters the Race takes kids back to Cartown, where Putt-Putt started his first Junior Adventure(tm) over six years ago in Putt-Putt Joins the Parade(tm). Now, Putt-Putt wants to enter the Cartown 500 Auto Race. Race coordinator Redline Rick has laid out the race-qualification rules. Kids must help Putt-Putt and Pep search through Cartown to find a few objects that will make Putt-Putt a true racing machine. And of course, they must find a helmet for Pep - because safety always comes first. With the game's easy-to-maneuver controls, even the youngest player can help Putt-Putt explore Cartown!
"Putt-Putt has taken kids on some incredible adventures to far-off places, including the moon and the zoo. Now, with the help of kids, Putt-Putt and Pep are off to race in the Cartown 500," said Ralph Giuffre, Humongous Entertainment executive vice president of marketing and licensing. "We're very excited that for the first time ever, kids will actually sit in Putt-Putt's driver's seat and take a spin around the Cartown Speedway with their favorite purple car."

Life in Cartown
In Putt-Putt Enters the Race, children meet a number of new friends, including Betsy Bulldozer and Redline Rick, plus many familiar faces along the way. Kids will have a blast visiting Outback Al, meeting the newest addition to the Cartown Zoo, or chatting with Mr. Baldini at the grocery store. Kids can help Torvil Tractor pick vegetables on his farm or help Peter Crane the construction worker find his lost hook. Putt-Putt and Pep meet up with these characters and many more during their racing adventure.

Calamities in Cartown
Putt-Putt and Pep encounter a collection of calamities that kids must help them solve before the pals can retrieve the items they need to enter the race. They include:
* Mr. Fenderbender's cat is stuck in a tree. Putt-Putt needs to get a ladder from Smokey the fire engine at the fire station, but Smokey won't lend it to Putt-Putt until he has earned his Jr. Fire Marshall badge. After a trip around Cartown, Putt-Putt encounters a situation in which he can earn his badge!
* Putt-Putt needs to purchase high-performance racing tires. Unfortunately, Putt-Putt doesn't have any money. But kids will discover that recycling pays in Cartown, where three empty bottles are worth one coin that can buy tires.

Kids Drive in the Cartown 500
They're off! Once kids help Putt-Putt find the items he needs for the Cartown 500, Putt-Putt and Pep head to the racetrack. Putt-Putt gets to enter the race, but he needs a good driver! For the first time ever, kids will sit in the driver's seat and actually maneuver Putt-Putt around the track as he races for the finish line. Will Putt-Putt be the winner of the Cartown 500? It's up to kid drivers everywhere to help Putt-Putt finish first.
